Baby heads

Pam,
That made me laugh - just thinking about Baby heads:) Super cute hat by the way!

Image borrowed from here.

After running the Grand Targhee Marathon this summer - my friend commented on the course and said "It was like running on baby heads." I stopped and stared for a bit and thought ... what the hell? - he meant that the cobbles on the trail were the size of baby heads. Perfect explanation for their size. Too funny...
Miss you,
K

What is the size of a baby's head?

I tried to make my own hat for a baby and this is what I came up with... I think its too small!!!!

A New Frontier

Hello my Dear Friend Karen

Ok, first thing: I did not know you were terrorized by birds. Funny that. I think they are strange and wonder how is that we are all life in such different forms..right this is cheesy? A Grosbeak actually landed on my shovel this summer while I was standing next to a pond at someone's property out of town. Then, just as the bird landed on my shovel as I was holding it casually: a couple deer popped out of the woods on the border of the yard and I thought "Holy crap am I Snow White?" Anyways, I will agree with you on the new classification for Owls :)

I am so glad you liked the print and gloves! It is raining here today and I love it! I am happy to have a break from the sun. I know, that sounds ridiculous because the rest of the country is preparing for winter. Rainy days are great for staying inside to study and sew ...

I am so excited you have a sewing machine! We really do need to plan another crafty vacation/visit! You must absolutely check out the sewing book called "Sewing Green". I love love love it. I can totally see you in the leave scarf on the front. I made the baby quilt inside and am making some baby hats for Beth/Jan and my cousin. I am using the wavy fabric for the hats and found this fucking great fabric for some small clutch/purses !! The water holder, tree door jam and skirts patterns are also GREAT!

This craft fair is coming soon and I am SO EXCITED! I do wish we could go together!--Unique LA Craft Fair. I am also going to walk this Fun Run in Venice Beach/Santa Monica. I have been feeling isolated so I decided I can do things like this and volunteer. It will be fun also because my friend Ann Marie(from Montana!) will be working down here for a couple weeks and we can do it together:)And, I can't lie, I really want the t-shirt. Haven't located the volunteering opp. yet, but am working on it!

And finally, I would love to share with you the invites I designed for my friends wedding!

Owls aren't birds

Eggs over my Pammy,

Thank you for the birthday cheer. You are MAKING me something?! I cannot wait. I feel so loved that you shared so many nice things with me in Cali. I am looking for the right frame to hang the bicycle print. I love it. I ate the fingers on the plane on the way home oohhhaahhhaa (insert evil laugh). I have not worn my new mittens yet but winter is almost here. I awoke to the best birthday gift of all - a fresh coating of snow:)

The link you posted was to a bird site and I thought, why is Pam sending me here - birds? I really am not all that into birds. They kind of freak me out. Why are they SO light? I know, really, I took an avian biology course back in the day - tough semester filled will horrible dreams of birds flying into my bedroom with no feathers... Another story for another day... This got me thinking, owls are technically birds, however, I am unwilling to accept this as fact so from now on, I will consider owls as their own ... class? phylum? group. I love the owl on the block of wood - we could make that.

I do, however, like this magnet from that site.
This one too.

I like this site and this print (on the left) in particular.
I wonder if I put this up in the house if I would DO more - be more proactive when I need a little shake up...

Anyho, I am getting a new sewing machine for my birthday - Rob ordered it for me and it should arrive any day. You will need to come here so we can craft together. I think my first project will be a simple A-line skirt that I have been WANTING to make forever. I have the fabric already, it is super cute - nested dolls on solid black.

Here is that site I told you about - with the amazing Halloween Party Decor.

Heh heh. Miss you!

Happy Birthday to YOU

Hi Karen! Happy Happy Birthday!!! I apologize for my delay with posting, but hopefully my virtual joyous celebrating of your joyous day of being born will make up for it :)

It was SO great to see you and Rob. I had forgotten how much of a secret cynic Rob is, and I love it! He said "You now, I just don't like people that much". I am so glad we were able to spend some time together and I just hope I can convince you to come down for another visit because there are a lot of funky flipping things I know you would like as I do!!

Ok, so, when I saw the deer I had that reaction-you know the one that goes like this: OMG they are soo f**cking cute. I want to eat them they are so f**cking cute I'm going to die. I think I especially like the representation of the deer's love for the shoe.

I have some groovy sites I need to share, this is one I can think of right now:
http://www.mincingmockingbird.bigcartel.com/

but for now I will share this random collection of Owls Pics I have collected over time as inspiration for, well I dont know what for, but for something inspired and crafty. It comes in waves and currently I am kind of obsessed with sewing-but I can't tell you what I am sewing until I am done...

Heading to Cali!

Pamalama,

I bet you'll be able to hang out in your backyard all winter! I look forward to seeing the finished space, complete with tiki torches! What is that large metal box attached to the back of the house and what kind of fruit tree is that? Apple? Tennis ball?

We had our first snowfall in the valley today! Three inches already! I did not have my scraper in the car so I used my hand - brrrr! I miss the Moscow house and that patio. It was our first major project. That house was SO great and had so much character - and no maintenance was required! I'll have to dig up some 6th Street photos and reminisce.

I can't wait to see you this Friday! Sometimes I love having friends sprinkled around the globe, other times it stinks not being closer to the ones I love. But, this week I'll get to take advantage of all the travelling I do for work. Hurray for leadership training and the soils conference in Long Beach!

I have to share this photo with you.
It's from an amazing small designer, EmersonMade. I LOVE the shoes, but more than that, I love the deer. For some reason it reminds me of you and me! I would love to buy a special dress or suit from this company... One day when the student loans are all paid off i can dress like and adult.

Did I tell you that we started growing hops? These pictured here aren't exactly the hops that Rob and I grew - but they are from the rhizomes that I bought (and were planted in my co-workers yard). He had much better success in growing hops this summer than we did. He was ever so gracious to share half of his crop with us this year.
This is our plant with 2 of the 4 hop buds we were able to harvest.
Maybe next year we will use fertilizer and water on our plants. The only thing that 2 soil scientists can grow is good earth.

See you in a couple days!
K
