Pumpkin carving

Dearest Pam,

Been busy this weekend enjoying the crummy fall weather. I surprised even myself that I was so excited for rainy, cool weather. I have been waiting for an excuse to stay inside, knit, and work on decorating the living room. We had some friends over to carve pumpkins. Had you been here, we'd have been more creative - but I went with a typical pumpkin face this Halloween. I carved the one of the left.
I learned that here in Utah, the Halloween tradition is a little bit different from the rest of the country. They do something called 'trunk or treat.' Seriously - they go to their ward house (church parking lot) and parents put candy in their trunks and the kids walk around the parking lot filling up their pillow case. It's no wonder the politics in this state are so backwards - kids are taught to accept candy from cars - from someone in the trunk no less..
So, you either get some candy or have to get in the trunk?
Miss you!
xoxo
Karen
